Reserve a World of Slime Nickname

In an MMORPG the string friends type into search is not a cosmetic title. GameChosun’s 26 August 2026 report on the Steam demo is explicit: players can stake a nickname ahead of official service. That is the social reason to log into the Windows preview this week. This page separates that claim from Discord’s Explorer role, from a Steam wishlist, and from the save file that will not survive December.

What the press actually said

GameChosun wrote that the 26 August demo lets you experience the early loop — capture, adventure with a partner — and that you can pre-claim your own nickname so people who want to try the game before official service have a reason to install. Inven and Gamemeca covered the same Windows-only drop and the December mobile plan; they did not contradict the name claim. TEAM42 has not published a separate “nickname FAQ” with character limits, special-character rules, or a guarantee that every string survives a merge into the live shard. Treat the claim as: log in now if a name you love is still free. Do not treat it as a legally worded reservation contract.

What a demo nickname is not

It is not the Discord Explorer role advertised on worldofsli.me. That role marks people who joined the official server before launch. You can have Explorer and still lose the in-game string you wanted if someone else claimed it in the demo first. Align your Discord display name with the in-game name anyway so friends search one string, not two jokes.

It is not a Steam wishlist. Wishlist app 4671450 for the December ping. The nickname lives inside the running demo client (app 4793900). You can wishlist without ever launching. You cannot claim the in-game name without launching.

It is not Slimepedia progress, Cube inventory, synthesis recipes, or bond level. TEAM42 presents the demo as a preview. Those systems reset for December. The name is the exception the Korean press highlighted. If a later Steam News post changes that, this wiki will follow Steam, not a Discord rumour.

Who can claim, and who cannot

The demo is Windows Steam only. Mac and mobile players cannot open this client. If your group will main phones in December, the person with a Windows PC is the one who can attempt the name now. Everyone else still wishlists and waits for mobile pre-registration in November. Cross-play between PC and mobile is the stated design for the full launch, not a promise that a phone can join this Windows demo.

You need an internet connection. World of Slime is an online MMORPG. There is no offline “reserve name then play later” collector mode on the store page.

Practical order of operations

1. Install the demo from Steam — steps on download the demo.
2. Launch, finish the short appearance setup described in getting started.
3. When the game asks for a name, pick a string you can shout in voice chat for years. Avoid a joke you will hate in a 3v3 callout.
4. Join Discord from worldofsli.me and set the same display name.
5. Wishlist the full game if you have not.

If the name is taken, the client will refuse it. TEAM42 has not published a ticket process for “I owned this name in another MMO.” Pick a variant you can live with. Do not buy a code from a reseller; the codes hub has no working codes, and unofficial sellers are not a nickname office.

After you have the name

Play the preview for the loops, not for a museum save. Cubes, synthesis, fishing, and riding still teach December. Powerful slimes deeper in the field are still worth hunting — see powerful slimes. When you quit, you keep the social handle and the muscle memory. You do not keep the Slimepedia.

G-STAR in Busan in November 2026 is a booth, not a second nickname window. If TEAM42 adds an on-site name event, it will appear on events after an official post. Until then, the Windows demo is the documented path.

Why this wiki gave the name its own URL

Search traffic after a demo launch always includes “World of Slime nickname,” “name reservation,” and “can I keep my name.” Burying the answer inside wishlist buried it. The wishlist page remains the checklist (Steam list, demo name, November phone). This page is the name itself: press source, limits, and the three things people confuse with it.

If TEAM42 later says names will be wiped or that a web form will replace the demo claim, the top of this article will change first. Until a Steam News post says otherwise, GameChosun’s 26 August line is the best public wording we have: stake the name while the preview crowd is still a preview crowd.
