Stamina System Explained — Slime Fatigue Guide

Stamina is the single most argued-about system in the World of Slime demo, and it is the one mechanic that will decide whether your first evening feels relaxing or exhausting. It is not a health bar and it is not your character’s sprint meter alone — it is a per-slime resource that governs how long a companion can keep fighting and keep up with you in the field. Once you understand what feeds it and what burns it, the demo stops feeling like a leash and starts feeling like a supply run you can plan.

What Stamina Actually Is

Every slime in your active party carries its own stamina pool. Battles spend it, following you across long distances spends it, and running spends it faster than walking. When a slime empties its pool it does not die; it slows down. A drained companion trails behind, and because your character is tethered to the slime you are travelling with, that drag pulls your own effective movement speed down with it. Players who describe the game as “slow” late in a session are usually describing a party where every slime is already flat.

That is why stamina reads as a time limit rather than a difficulty knob. You are not losing fights because of it. You are losing minutes walking home. Treat the bar as your session clock and everything else about the demo becomes easier to schedule.

What Drains It Fastest

Combat is the main sink. Fights in the demo are close to automatic — you commit a slime, press attack, and the exchange resolves — so a single slime cycling through a farming area burns down surprisingly quickly. Chained encounters with no swap in between are the fastest way to empty a pool. Distance is the second sink: crossing a biome on foot with the same companion out costs stamina even when nothing attacks you. Running compounds both.

Slime quality matters more here than raw level. Friendly variants — the rare recoloured versions covered on our friendly slimes page — carry noticeably deeper stamina pools than the ordinary field catches of the same species. If your entire party is made of standard captures, you will be walking back to town two or three times as often as a player who has one friendly companion anchoring the rotation.

How to Recover Stamina

The demo’s reliable recovery point is a village. Return to a settlement and your party refills. There is a stamina potion in the demo’s reward flow, but it functions as a one-off taste rather than a purchasable supply, so you cannot currently stock up and stay in the field indefinitely. Teleport scrolls shorten the trip home, and they are also limited, which is why the movement and fast travel page treats scroll spending as a real budgeting decision rather than a convenience.

The practical consequence is that recovery is a routing problem. You are not looking for an item that resets the bar; you are looking for a farming spot close enough to a village that the walk back does not cost more than the farming gained.

Party Rotation: The Fix Most Players Miss

Stamina is per slime, not per player, so a party of five is really five separate session clocks. Rotating companions every few fights instead of grinding one slime into the ground roughly multiplies your field time by the number of usable slimes you carry. The mistake almost everyone makes on day one is leaning on the starter because it is the strongest thing they own, flattening it, and then discovering the backups are too weak to finish the quest.

Build the bench early. Capture ordinary slimes purely as stamina batteries for travel and trash fights, and save your best companion for the encounter that actually matters. Our party builds page covers how to slot that bench without wasting your limited storage.

Stamina-Aware Farming Loops

A good loop in the demo looks like this. Pick a target area no more than a short walk from a village. Enter with a full party. Fight with your weakest usable slime first and keep the strongest in reserve. Swap the moment a slime’s bar dips rather than when it empties, because a drained slime slows the whole trip home. When two or three companions are low, walk back, refill, and re-enter — do not try to squeeze the last fight out of a flat party.

Quest design pushes against this. Several demo quests ask for large counts of drops from low-spawn slimes, so the honest advice is to batch objectives: pick up every quest that points at the same area before you leave town, then clear them in one stamina cycle. The quests and NPCs page lists which objectives overlap.

Will It Change Before Launch?

TEAM42 has publicly said the demo exists to collect feedback ahead of the December 2026 service, and stamina is by a wide margin the most repeated complaint in Steam reviews, alongside base movement speed. Nothing has been confirmed changed yet. This wiki will not guess at numbers; when a dated patch or dev note addresses stamina, it will appear on the updates hub and this page will be revised the same day. Until then, plan around the system as it ships.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about the game.

Does stamina affect my character or my slimes?

Both, indirectly. The bar belongs to each slime, but a drained companion falls behind and slows your own travel speed until you swap or recover.

How do I refill stamina in World of Slime?

Return to a village. The demo gives you a single stamina potion as a taste, but there is no repeatable purchase, so town trips are the reliable reset.

Why does my party run out so quickly?

You are probably using one slime for everything. Stamina is per slime, so rotating five companions gives you roughly five times the field time.

Do friendly slimes have more stamina?

Yes. The rare friendly variants carry deeper pools than ordinary captures of the same species, which is a large part of why players hunt them.

Is the stamina system being removed for launch?

Nothing has been confirmed. It is the most common criticism in demo reviews and TEAM42 has said it is gathering feedback, but no dated change has been published.
