World of Slime Platforms

PC, Mac, mobile, controller support, and cross-play — everything in one place.

Last updated:

World of Slime launches on three platform families in December 2026: PC and Mac through Steam, and mobile on iOS and Android. The 26 August 2026 demo is Windows PC only. Cross-play is the design goal from the full launch. This page has the details on each platform version and what to expect.

Steam — PC and Mac

The primary platform is Steam on PC and Mac. Both versions are identical in content and receive updates simultaneously. The Steam version supports full controller integration, Steam achievements, and Steam Cloud saves. The PC version supports keyboard and mouse with full remapping, and the Mac version supports keyboard and mouse as well as controller input.

Mobile — iOS and Android

The mobile versions are developed alongside the PC version, not ported after the fact. This means the mobile experience is designed from the ground up rather than a compromised conversion. Touch controls use a virtual joystick, context-sensitive action buttons, and a dedicated partner slime ability button. The mobile version runs at a reduced default draw distance to maintain performance on smaller screens and handheld mode.

Controller Support

World of Slime has full controller support on both PC and mobile. On PlayStation consoles, DualSense adaptive triggers and haptic feedback are fully implemented — the trigger resistance changes based on whether you are throwing a Cube or casting a fishing line. On Xbox, the full button layout mirrors the PlayStation version. Switch Pro Controller is also supported with the exception of adaptive trigger features.

Cross-Play and Cross-Progression

Cross-play is enabled by default between PC, Mac, and mobile versions. Your friends on any platform can join your session regardless of where they are playing. Cross-progression syncs your save data automatically through your Steam account — you can start a session on your PC and continue exactly where you left off on your phone during a commute. There is no limitation on how often you can switch between platforms.

Cloud Saves and Account Management

Save data is tied to your Steam account and stored in Steam Cloud for PC and Mac users. The mobile app links to the same Steam account, meaning your save is accessible across every device you own without manual intervention. If you play offline on mobile and then reconnect on PC, the most recent save timestamp wins — there is no merge conflict system, so avoid having two active sessions running simultaneously across platforms.

Streaming and Content Creation

World of Slime is streaming-friendly with no restrictions on broadcasting. The game includes a built-in stream layout option that moves UI elements away from the corners for a cleaner overlay appearance. Captions and subtitle options are fully customisable for streamers who need to accommodate deaf or hard-of-hearing audiences. There are no stream-spoiler mechanics — all content is safe to broadcast on launch day.

Mod Support and Platform Policy

World of Slime does not have official mod support at launch. The game’s files are not structured for easy modding, and using unofficial mods may result in update conflicts or achievement disablement on Steam. TEAM42 has not ruled out future modding tools but has given no timeline. Console versions, if announced, will not support mods under any circumstances. For now, customisation is limited to cosmetic purchases and user-created guide content shared outside the game itself.

Controller vs Keyboard — Is One Better?

For exploration and capture, controller and keyboard are roughly equivalent in capability. For competitive PvP, most top-ranked players use keyboard and mouse for the slightly faster reaction input, but the difference is marginal and many competitive players use controllers successfully. Choose the input method you are most comfortable with — skill matters more than peripheral choice in World of Slime.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about the game.

Is there a console version?

No console version has been announced. The current launch plan covers PC, Mac, and mobile only.

Can I use the same account on PC and mobile?

Yes. Your Steam account links to both platforms and your progress syncs automatically.

Do mobile players have any disadvantage in PvP?

No. Cross-play matches mobile and PC players together, and the touch control scheme is fully featured. No input method has a systematic advantage.

Does the mobile version use data or Wi-Fi?

World of Slime requires a constant internet connection and will consume data on mobile networks. Playing on Wi-Fi is strongly recommended to avoid high data usage.
