How to Play with Friends in World of Slime

Co-op setup, party capture bonuses, and PvP basics explained.

Last updated:

World of Slime is built for social play. Whether you want to explore the world together, tackle capture challenges as a team, or settle scores in PvP, the game gives you tools to do all of it. This guide covers everything you need to know about playing with other people.

Starting a Co-op Session

Open the menu and select Multiplayer, then choose between hosting a new session or joining via a friend’s code or Steam invite. Hosting requires you to be in a village or safe zone — you cannot start a session mid-exploration. Once your session is live, friends can join at any time by selecting the session from their multiplayer menu. Official PvP runs from 1v1 through 3v3; explore together in a shared session rather than assuming a fixed four-player raid size.

Party Formation and Roles

Each player brings their own party of up to six slimes. There are no strict class restrictions, but experienced co-op players recommend covering elemental diversity: having at least one slime of each primary element across the party ensures you can trigger elemental bonuses during captures and combat. Communication about who is bringing what also helps with synthesis planning — sharing duplicate rare slimes between party members accelerates everyone’s breeding progress.

Shared Exploration and Capture Bonuses

When a wild slime is encountered, every player in the session can attempt a capture. If at least one player successfully captures the slime, everyone in the party gets a capture rate bonus. This bonus stacks — more players present means easier captures overall. The bonus also applies when one player’s partner slime has a type advantage over the target, making elemental team composition genuinely strategic rather than purely cosmetic.

Collaborative Puzzle-Solving

Several areas in World of Slime require two or more players to solve environmental puzzles — switches that need simultaneous activation, doors that require different elemental types to open, and timed platform sequences where one player holds a path open while another navigates. These puzzles are always solvable solo in the full game through alternative routes, but co-op makes them significantly faster and more intuitive.

PvP Battle Basics

World of Slime includes both 1v1 and team PvP modes. PvP battles use a turn-adjacent system where each player selects actions for their active slime simultaneously, then animations play. Strategy comes from type matchups, ability timing, and reading your opponent’s likely choices. Ranked PvP is planned for the full December 2026 launch, and seasonal leaderboards are expected to reward consistent performance with exclusive cosmetic items.

Tips for New Co-op Players

Always check your party’s elemental coverage before starting a session. Keep at least one healing-type slime in your party for longer exploration runs. Share synthesis discoveries with your group — the discovery log is personal, but strategic knowledge is collective. In PvP, watch your opponent’s slime choices before committing to your own, and do not underestimate defensive abilities in a meta that tends to reward offensive setups.

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Quick answers to the most common questions about the game.

Can I join a friend's game mid-session?

Yes. Friends can join at any time by selecting the active session from the multiplayer menu. There is no level or progress restriction on joining.

Are PvP battles based on stats or skill?

Both. Slime stats matter significantly, but ability timing, type matchup calls, and team composition strategy are equally important. A well-played team with slightly lower stats can beat a poorly played team with top-tier slimes.

Can I trade slimes with friends?

Direct trading is not available at launch. The primary way to share resources is through synthesis — combining a friend's duplicate with your own to create new species.

Is there friendly fire in co-op?

No. All capture and combat abilities only affect wild or enemy slimes, never your teammates.
