Fishing Guide for World of Slime
Catch everything the rivers and lakes have to offer.
Fishing in World of Slime is more than a relaxing side activity — it is a legitimate progression path that rewards patience and knowledge. Every fish species you catch is recorded in your Slimepedia, and certain rare catches unlock exclusive synthesis ingredients that cannot be obtained anywhere else. This guide covers the full fishing system.
How Fishing Works
Approach any fishing spot — rivers, lakes, and certain coastal areas — and interact with the fishing marker to cast your line. The game uses a timing-based minigame: a moving indicator sweeps across a bar, and you press to hook the fish when it is in the green zone. More valuable fish have smaller green zones and faster-moving indicators. Missing the timing either loses the fish entirely or lands a low-value default catch depending on the spot.
Bait Types and Their Effects
Bait is split into four tiers: basic, premium, seasonal, and legendary. Basic bait is freely available near most water sources and catches common fish reliably. Premium bait costs a small amount of in-game currency and significantly improves the odds of uncommon and rare catches. Seasonal bait aligns with the in-game seasonal cycle — each season introduces a new seasonal bait that attracts fish only available during that season. Legendary bait is extremely rare and has a small chance to attract legendary aquatic slimes.
Seasonal Fishing Cycle
The game’s four seasons — spring, summer, autumn, and winter — each last roughly two real-world weeks and affect fishing tables significantly. Some fish are exclusive to one season and only appear at fishing spots during that window. Missing a seasonal fish means waiting for the next cycle, making the fishing calendar an important planning tool for completionists. The Slimepedia records the season and date of every catch, so you can track exactly which seasonal windows you have hit.
Rare Fish Locations
Not all fishing spots are equal. The starting river produces mostly common and uncommon species. The deep lake in the northern area has a much wider table that includes several rare species not found elsewhere. The coastal area accessible late in the demo has the widest variety of all, including two legendary-tier fish that only appear with premium or seasonal bait. Check your Slimepedia to see which spots you have visited and which species you are still missing.
Fishing as a Synthesis Resource
Certain synthesis recipes require fish-derived ingredients. These are not just rare curiosities — some of the most powerful hybrid abilities in the synthesis system require fish ingredients to unlock. Keep a small stockpile of premium and seasonal bait for these recipes rather than selling all your catches. The wiki’s Slime Synthesis guide has a complete list of fish ingredients used in synthesis.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about the game.
Can I fish in co-op?
Yes. Each player in a co-op session has their own fishing line. Fishing simultaneously does not affect each other's catches, and party bonuses do apply to rare catch rates.
What is the rarest fish in the game?
As of the August 2026 demo, the rarest confirmed catch is the Luminous Glofish, found only in the deep lake during winter with legendary bait. Its exact synthesis use is still being researched.
Do I need to be in a specific place to fish?
Yes. Fishing spots are marked on your map with a fish icon. Approach the marker and interact to begin fishing. You cannot fish from just any body of water.
Is fishing required for any main story quests?
No. Fishing is entirely optional but strongly recommended for synthesis progression and Slimepedia completion.
