World of Slime Demo Guide
Full coverage of every feature currently available in the public demo.
The World of Slime public demo launched in August 2026, giving players their first chance to explore the game before the full Q4 2026 release. This guide covers everything the demo includes, what carries over to the full game, and how to use your demo time wisely.
What the Demo Includes
The demo gives you access to the first major area of the game world, a selection of starter and mid-tier slimes, the full capture and synthesis mechanics, fishing, and the first village hub. Multiplayer is also enabled in the demo, so you can play with friends right now. Progression made in the demo does not carry over to the full release — this is a clean preview.
How Long Is the Demo?
Most players report two to four hours of content in the demo if they are exploring thoroughly. Speedrunners can reach the demo’s natural stopping point in under an hour, but that skips a significant portion of the slime variety and side content. The demo is designed to give you a complete feel for the core loops — capture, synthesis, fishing, and co-op — rather than a vertical slice of the full story.
Capturing in the Demo
The demo includes roughly 30 unique slime species. This is a fraction of the full game’s planned roster, but it covers the core elemental types and shows how the capture system scales with rarity. Rare slimes in the demo follow the same spawn rules as the full game: some appear only at specific times of day, some require specific weather conditions, and some are only found after bonding with certain NPC factions.
Synthesis in the Demo
Synthesis is fully functional in the demo. You can combine two slimes to create a new species with blended stats and sometimes an entirely new ability. The synthesis table is accessible from any village, and the system includes a recipe discovery log — when you create a new combination, it is permanently recorded even in the demo. This means you can spend demo time experimenting with synthesis safely, knowing that any discoveries you make will inform your full-game strategy.
Fishing in the Demo
The demo includes two fishing spots: a riverside area and a small lake. Both offer different catch tables, and the game introduces you to the bait system. Different bait attracts different rarity tiers of fish and sometimes rare slime-adjacent creatures. Seasonal bait effects from the full game are not yet active in the demo since the full seasonal cycle is not implemented.
Co-op in the Demo
The demo supports online multiplayer with friends. You can invite via Steam or use the in-game session browser. Official PvP in the full design runs from 1v1 through 3v3. Co-op in the demo is shared exploration, party capture bonuses, and collaborative puzzle-solving. If you are planning to play with friends at launch, the demo is the perfect place to align on roles and strategy.
What the Demo Does Not Include
The full release will add the remaining three major areas, approximately 70 additional slime species, the complete NPC questline, PvP ranked mode, and mobile platform support. The demo is missing the competitive PvP mode and the endgame raid content, both of which are core to the full experience.
Preparing for Full Launch
Use the demo to decide which capture style suits you, experiment with synthesis to find combinations you want to pursue at launch, and get comfortable with the controls before the full game adds more complexity. Following the Getting Started guide before playing the demo is strongly recommended.
Frequently Asked Questions
Quick answers to the most common questions about the game.
Does demo progress carry over to the full game?
No. Demo progress is separate and does not carry over. Your Slimepedia discoveries and synthesis recipes will need to be rebuilt in the full game.
Can I play the demo with friends who do not own it?
Yes. The demo supports full cross-play with other demo players. Anyone can join a session hosted by a demo owner.
Will there be more demo updates before launch?
TEAM42 has not announced additional demo updates. Follow the official Steam page or the wiki's Updates section for the latest news.
Does the demo have microtransactions?
The demo is a preview build and does not include any real-money transactions. The full game is free-to-play with cosmetic-only purchases.
